Date: 18th century (conjectural).

Description: this site as well the sanctuary, consists of eight entrances representing the Calvary, is also the source of “Engaranhos” with some imperceptible inscriptions.

State of conservation: reasonable.

Legends and traditions: the people believe that the source of the “Engaranhos” has the power to cure people suffering from problems of growth, speech and locomotion. In May 1932, the Abade de Baçal discovered several prehistoric inscriptions on a rock near the fountain of 2Engaranhos”, belonging quite possibly to a roman castro. They also say that in Serapicos are hidden treasures and enchanted Moorish women. The pilgrimage of Nossa Senhora do Aviso is celebrated on the first Sunday of June.

Date: Modern Age (the primitive church would be of century XV).

Description: the facade is coated with modern tiles. The vestibule is decorated with sheled form, which opens to a grand window. The interior altars are of polychromatic woodwork.

State of consertation: good

Legends and Traditions: the pilgrimage Senhor de Cabeça Boa occurs in the 1st Sunday of May. Certain day, a Portuguese emigrant in Brazil was lost at sea and asked for the aid the Saint Christ, promising to build a temple to it if he was saved. Thus the chapel of Saint Christ was born, where the arrival of the Christianity to lands of Vera Cruz is celebrated. Other story says that in the darkest night, the lamp suspended in the chapel is sighted in the distant mountain ranges.

Date: the façade of the sanctuary will have to be of the end of yhe 16th century or of the beginning of the 17th century. The interior of the temple could be older, being of of the 15th or 16th centuries.

Description: the Sanctuary of Senhora da Serra, also known as the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora das Neves, is a church of three ships, separate by columns and pilasters that seem to be of the 15th or 16th century. The main altar was restored in the 70’s and the image of Nossa Senhora da Serra is of the beginning of the 20th century. Between 30th of August and 8th of September, this church is set of great religious and profane celebrations that culminate with the pilgrimage of Nossa Senhora da Serra.

Legends and Traditions: legend says a def shepherd certain day, when feeding her flock, was visited by the Virgin. This Lady asked her to transmit her desire to the judge of Rebordãos, to construt a chapel in Her honor in the highest point of the mountain. The shepherd transmitted the message, but the judge of the people did not fulfill the will of the Virgin and looked for a place next to the town and protected by the winds. The Virgin ordered then to call João Rodrigues, the richest man of the village, so that Her temple was built in the indicated place. In the day marked for the meeting, the 5th of August, the gentleman started the workmanship. In the Mountain range had appeared registrations that the people identify as the marks of the horseshoe of “The donky who took Our Lagy to Egipt”. The great religious fest dedicated to

Date: Contemporary period (conjectural).

Description: a chapel dedicated to Santiago, which was built in a very pleasant location overlooking the river. It has facade coated by tiles. Near the North chapel, you find “Fonte do engaranho”. It is a stone fountain, of 1745, which says the people have miraculous powers.

State of conservation: good.

Legends and traditions: this chapel was built on the site of an earlier one, product of a promise of an inhabitant of this village. Legend has it that this man fell in love with a “foot of goat Lady” which attracted him to a cliff where she wanted to kill him, being saved from the sad fate by the invocation of São Tiago, who he pledged to dedicate a temple.

Date: Religious monument dating from the second half of the 18th century.

Description: The façade of this Chapel is covered with yellow and black tiles of template. Work of the then modern rococo architecture.

State of conservation: good.

Legends and traditions: Legend has it that on a summer day was a girl that didn’t speak with cattle in a place called Pereiros, when she approached by the Virgin dos Remédios that offered her water from a fountain. Returning home the girl was thinking about a way to transmit these events to her family, when she realized that she could already speak.

After some time, when the girl was sleeping, the Virgin appeared again, taking her to a thread of water that came out of the ground. Cured by the Virgin the girl sang a hymn of praise and asked why she was blessed by the Virgin. The Virgin told her that the people of the village were not very devout and ordered her to tell the people not to work on Sunday and not miss mass.

The third and last appearance there was, once again, on the River Bank, near the chapel Dos Remédios. The girl saw the Virgin in a cloud. The Virgin sent her to tell the people of the land to change the temple to the top of the village, where they saw a circle of snow that would indicate the location and size and gave them some gold coins to help its construction.

Date: 15th and 16th centuries
Description: The Sanctuary is composed by the Church of Our lady of Naso, five chapels dedicated to the mysteries of the Rosary, a band stand, a sculpture of the Immaculate Conceição, the “moor”, the Well and a stone cross.
Legend: legend says it was constructed by a couple from Miranda. While a man was shepherding its flock a Lady appeared and asked him to build in that place a chapel, indicating it to him that same night, in the Mountain range of the Naso, by means of a procession with light, the accurate place where the chapel should be erected. But the shepherd’s wife refused the request and was punished. From that moment the woman promised she would build the chapel. Thus the desired chapel was constructed and its administration is made by somebody contracted by the descendants of that family.
