Date: the façade of the sanctuary will have to be of the end of yhe 16th century or of the beginning of the 17th century. The interior of the temple could be older, being of of the 15th or 16th centuries.
Description: the Sanctuary of Senhora da Serra, also known as the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora das Neves, is a church of three ships, separate by columns and pilasters that seem to be of the 15th or 16th century. The main altar was restored in the 70’s and the image of Nossa Senhora da Serra is of the beginning of the 20th century. Between 30th of August and 8th of September, this church is set of great religious and profane celebrations that culminate with the pilgrimage of Nossa Senhora da Serra.
Legends and Traditions: legend says a def shepherd certain day, when feeding her flock, was visited by the Virgin. This Lady asked her to transmit her desire to the judge of Rebordãos, to construt a chapel in Her honor in the highest point of the mountain. The shepherd transmitted the message, but the judge of the people did not fulfill the will of the Virgin and looked for a place next to the town and protected by the winds. The Virgin ordered then to call João Rodrigues, the richest man of the village, so that Her temple was built in the indicated place. In the day marked for the meeting, the 5th of August, the gentleman started the workmanship. In the Mountain range had appeared registrations that the people identify as the marks of the horseshoe of “The donky who took Our Lagy to Egipt”. The great religious fest dedicated to
